Mary Jane Veloso, a drug trafficking convict who was on death row, is currently in the process of being repatriated to her home country, the Philippines. Expressing gratitude towards the Philippine government for facilitating visits from her family during her time in Indonesia, Mary Jane stated that she is looking forward to starting a new life back in the Philippines after nearly 15 years of separation.
Despite feeling sad about leaving Indonesia, Mary Jane thanked the officials, her fellow inmates, and friends for their kindness. She specifically mentioned the support from the Philippine President, Bongbong Marcos Jr.
–> Important Note: Once transferred, Mary Jane will be placed on an immigration blacklist and will not be allowed to reenter Indonesia. This was confirmed by I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram, the Immigration Enforcement Deputy.
The enforcement of any further legal actions against Mary Jane will be fully managed by the Philippine government, who have assured Indonesia of providing updates on the case.
